A trio of storms
This composite image, comprising of infrared data from the Geostationary satellites of EUMETSAT, NOAA and the JMA was captured at 09:00 (UTC) on Monday 15 September 2014 and shows three active storms.
Hurricane Odile made landfall at 04:45 (UTC) on the Baja California peninsula in Mexico. It is the most powerful storm in decades to strike the area.
Typhoon Kalmaegi is regaining strength over the sea after bringing heavy rain and high wind to the Philippines.
Hurricane Edouard is expected to strengthen in the Atlantic over the next couple of days, but remains far from land.
