Minimize Amur River Overflow

This SPOT-5 image, acquired 26 August 2013, shows flooding along the Amur River in the Leninsky District of Russia.

Powerful floods have been raging in eastern Russia since the second half of July. The Leninskoye village, which can be seen in the centre of this image has been turned into an island by the floodwaters.

According to RIA Novosti, the flooding in the Amur River basin was the strongest in the region over the past decade. It covered the Amur Region, the Jewish Autonomous Area and the Khabarovsk Territory.
