Yekaterinburg, also known as Ekaterinburg, is one of the host cities for the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia international football tournament.
The Central Stadium of Yekaterinburg, also known as Ekaterinburg Arena, features in the centre of this image. Two temporary spectacular stands have been erected and extend outside the Arena to welcome 35,000 spectators during the World Cup. After the World Cup, it's capacity will be reduced to 23,000 and serve as the home ground of local football team FC Ural Yekaterinburg.
The Inset River which features to the right of Central Stadium, flows from the Ural Mountains into the Tobol River. Yekaterinburg sits just to the east of the Ural Mountain range that divides Europe and Asia. With a population of 1.4 million, Yekaterinburg is Russia's fourth largest city.
