Minimize Lake Baikal, Russia

This SPOT-6 image, acquired 19 August 2013, shows the northern part of Lake Baikal in Buryatia, Russia.

Severobaikalsk town is located in the bottom left of the image, founded in 1974 in connection with the construction of the Baikal-Amur Mainline. The Tuya River - a tributary of Lake Baikal, the estuary of which forms a delta, is just south of it.

In the center of the image Nizhneangarsk urban village can be seen, located 23 km north-east of Severobaykalsk.

In the right part of the image the Yarki island is visible, which separates Lake Baikal from the deltas of the Upper Angara and Kichera rivers. Its length is about 20 km, with a width from 20 to 100 m.
