This Pleiades image, acquired 22 September 2013, shows an almost full view of Venice, Italy.
Italy's famous 'City of Canals' is constructed on a group of 118 small islands in the Venetian Lagoon, divided by various canals and bridges.
In this image the different-sized waterways that snake through the city can clearly be seen, with the Grand Canal bisecting ther centre of the city. Vessels, both large and small, can also be seen plying the waters or at berth.
The island at the top of this image is Giudecca, which hosts hotels for the many visiting tourists.
On the right side of the image, the Venice's ferry port is visible with waiting cruise ships. And running out from the bottom right corner of the image is the Ponte della Liberta, a road bridge that was opened in 1933 to connect Venice to the mainland of Italy.
