International Charter uses satellite data to assist disaster response

Last month when a severe cyclonic storm, 'Fani', made landfall in the Puri district of Odisha, the International Charter was activated by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The exact activation details were recorded as 3 May 2019 at 00:41 a.m., and within four hours, the first satellite image was provided.
The International Charter Space and Major Disasters is a global initiative that aims to use space technology to assist emergency responders in the event of calamities.
