NASA confirmed Friday morning that all eight spacecraft of its latest Earth science mission are in good shape. The Cyclone Global Navigation Satellite System (CYGNSS) will provide scientists with advanced technology to see inside tropical storms and hurricanes like never before.

Although not designed to deliver information on ice, ESA's Earth Explorer SMOS satellite can detect thin sea-ice. Since its cousin, CryoSat, is better at measuring thicker ice scientists have found a way of using these missions together to yield an even clearer picture of the changing Arctic.[>

As part of the Scientific Exploitation of Operational Missions (SEOM) programme element, the European Space Agency (ESA) is organising the 4th Advanced Course on Radar Polarimetry devoted to train the next generation of Earth Observation (EO) scientists to exploit dual and fully polarimetric data for science and applications development.
The main objectives of the course are to:

Visit the eoPortal database to find out about spaceborne EO missions and sensors to discover more about past, operational and future missions. This is complemented with detailed articles of airborne sensors.
This database is based on the book of Herbert J. Kramer Observation of the Earth and its Environments and describes over 600 missions in detail. Online updated version of "Earth Observation History of Technical Introduction" available as of January 02, 2017.
