Copernicus EMS and the International Charter Space & Disasters join forces
25 April 2018
After two years of intensive brainstorming and talks, Copernicus EMS and International Charter agreed how to join forces to better understand and manage the impact of emergencies and large disasters.
Copernicus EMS is a European Union space programme providing, within a few hours and free of charge, high-quality maps based on satellite imagery, working 24h/365 days a year, supporting countries throughout the world to respond in an emergency to the impact of a large disaster.
The International Charter is a network of about 15 space agencies throughout the world making their satellite data available for free "on a best effort basis" to assist disaster management.
